The Balder

This highly lucrative contract is due to begin in May and should run until the Christmas deadline. We have additionally tendered for the off-shore commissioning, which may take us past the holidays and into the first quarter of 1999; after the refit, launch, commissioning, testing, and finally sailing into position, the vessel is due to begin production in September 1999.

1999 -01 Edit: Our contract was a complex web of companies that changed over time. It mainly involved representing Aker group companies in liaison with G + H Mcgill, N.S.V., Esso, and Scopus, as well as with Aker’s own Purchasing, Structural, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Electrical departments.

We successfully produced all graphics for Design packs, leakage test packs and for commissioning using an early version of AutoCAD r13, made all deadlines and contributed to the successful achieving of all milestones — as generously recognised by Kevin Johnson the Project Manager.

Additional tasks included assisting Aker’s I.T. department in a wide range of aspects from demobilisation and problem solving to software installations and hub connections. Our contracts Refs 36 & 37: Main Client: Aker Maritime (Glasgow) Limited, (Aker Oil Group Technology (U.K.) Limited), (Marine craft consulting and contracting design engineers), Aberdeen, Scotland.
