We are proud to announce that have won a long term contract with Building Design Partnership consulting building services engineers and architects of Manchester, England, developing the design for the new 2.4 billion pound Hyundai semiconductor manufacturing facility at Halbeath near Dunfermline.

This major scheme forms the core part of the Dunfermline East Expansion (DEX) project.

1998-10 Edit: starting April 1997, we initially developed the heating-, chilled water- , steam- , process cooling water-, ventilation- and many other- systems for the FAB and CUB, and latterly we were involved in tool hook-up development in conjuntion with specialist vendors involving specialist gases.

Sadly, Hyundai withdrew from the project a few weeks from the completion and opening date (see news story for details). We had a contractual obligation to continue with design production and to deliver our work with the best will and on time. We worked with BDP to manage all CAD production, developing their in-house CAD, OS and network over the length of the project.

During this project, BDP restructured and re-organised internally and fundamentally from being a professional consultancy to trade as a group of incorporated companies with directors instead of partners. Our relationship developed throughout all the changes, our contracts eventually ran to five in total — from #31 through to #35 over the year and a half.

This was a very lucrative and successful contract for our company. We received an official written commendation from the Senior Mechanical Project Manager, Peter Williams.

2006-09 Edit: This division of BDP later became BDP Advanced Technologies (see www.at.bdp.co.uk)
