Matthew Hall

Our already very successful second quarter has been further boosted by dcdevine winning a short term contract (our ref #4) from May 1990 with Matthew Hall Mechanical and Electrical Engineers Limited — Glasgow office.

We won the contract to produce plant room ‘Fast-track’ installation drawings for the prestigious (and somewhat infamous) Tay House project (sited over the M.8. Motorway), Glasgow city centre.

1990-11 Edit: This short contract ran from May to October 1990 during their change over to the A.M.E.C. Group, forming AMEC Matthew Hall.

Our workload grew from just Tay House to various other projects, including the programming and scheduling for R.N.A.D. Coulport; and a complete set of ‘As Installed’ record drawings for the Life Association of Scotland’s (LAS) new head office in Edinburgh.

All work had to be to the current British Standards, and we used Staedtler and Rotring draughting pens and associated equipment, transtext, velographs, tracing paper, dyeline printing, 3080 copying, templates and stencils on a manual, cursor-square double elephant drawing board.

We also did equipment labelling and ordering, O&M Manuals, framed and glazed schematic drawings, etc.

We also worked with the Project Team on the Geest contract at Garrion Bridge, and the company provided us with a complete support system of administration, tracers etc.

2000-02 Edit: Life Association of Scotland was taken over by Britannia Life in 1993 and then closed to new business in 1998 and was acquired by Britannic Assurance in 1999 changing its name to Alba Life… which is a ‘Resolution’ company based in Birmingham and Glasgow! (see also later work with Matthew Hall).
